APRIL is Distracted Driving Awareness Month!

Distracted driving is a huge public issue that impacts us all. Most people fall under the notion that “Bad things can happen to other people when they are distracted and driving, but not to us,” this month is to keep awareness in how important it is to recognize distracted driving for the safety of us and everyone around us.

Because of Distracted Driving:

  • The latest statsitics show motor vehicle fatalities are up 6% from 2015.

  • More than 40,000 people were killed on our nation’s roadways, as distracted driving was the main contributor.

  • A recent survey from NSC (National Safety Council) shows that 47% of drivers believe its safe to send a text either manually or touching the voice control buttons while driving.

  • 45% of drivers admitted they feel pressure from employers to check email while driving.

  • 35% of teen drivers even reported using their social media while driving.

  • 33% believe its acceptable to drive after sleeping for less than 4 hours.

  • 13% have driven after using marijuana this past month.

Take advantage of built in control systems and GPS directions installed in your car if they are available. Switch to voice control options before leaving your driveway so you do not have to look down at your phone! "Distracted Driving" is an incredibly dangerous and irresponsible thing to do. Police will be out in full force looking for offenders!

It only takes one second that could change your entire life.
